Task 7-The constellations

Image
The constellations A constellation is a set of fixed stars or unrelated stars that form an imaginary pattern. There are 88 constellations. The Greeks discovered the constellations. To find a constellation you have to be in a place with no light and no full moon,  knowing the constellations can be of great help to quickly orient yourself. Aries   Leo Ursa Major Eridanus Ursa Major’s history : Ursa Major (also known as the Great Bear) is a constellation in the northern sky, whose associated mythology likely dates back into prehistory. Its Latin name means "greater (or larger) she-bear," referring to and contrasting it with nearby Ursa Minor, the lesser bear. In antiquity, it was one of the original 48 constellations listed by Ptolemy in the 2nd century AD. Today it is the third largest of the 88 modern constellations. Ursa Major is visible throughout the year from most of the northern hemisphere. From southern temperate latitudes, the main asterism is invisible,

Task 6 - A Planet of the Solar System

Image
The solar system   The Solar System is located in the Milky Way, a barred spiral galaxy with a diameter of about 100,000 light-years containing more than 100 billion stars The Sun resides in one of the Milky Way's outer spiral arms, known as the Orion-Cygnus Arm or Local Spur. The Solar System is the system where all planets are attached to each other, other moons and the Sun, all bound by gravity, either directly or indirectly.  It consists of a star; the Sun, the planets; a total of nine, dwarf planets; such as Pluto, moons and millions of asteroids, comets and meteoroids. The Solar System also contains smaller objects. The asteroid belt, which lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, mostly contains objects composed, like the terrestrial planets, of rock and metal. Beyond Neptune's orbit lie the Kuiper belt and scattered disc, and beyond them a newly discovered population of sednoids.                            Mercury General information: This small planet spins arou

Task 5-The Compass

Image
The Compass Introduction:  Our objective is to create a compass with easy to find materials. We think it will work because we already knew the experiment. Materials:  -1 Bowl -Water -1 Cork -1 Sewing Needle -1 Magnet -1 Cutter -1 Marker Procedure:  First, we put some water in the bowl. Now, we cut a piece of the cork with the cutter. When we have the cork, we mark with the marker the N (North) and S (South) in the correct direction. After marking the cork, we put the sewing needle inside. When we’ve got the needle inside, we scratch the needle with the magnet, magnetizing it.  Results:  After a few attempts we made it correctly and it worked. Sources:  https://youtu.be/lWEK7QLhJRQ
  · Big Bang The Universe we know nowadays began in a Big Bang about 14 billion years ago. The entire Universe was inside a bubble thousands of times smaller than a pinhead. Then, it suddenly exploded. The Universe was born. Time, space and was created. In less than a second, the Universe grew to a whole galaxy.  As the Universe expanded and grew it cooled and particles changed to matter and antimatter. These two types of particles destroyed each other, although some matter survived. More particles like neutrons, protons and atoms started to form when the Universe was one second old. Within the first seconds, the entire Universe’s temperature dropped 1 billion degrees Celsius and it was cold enough for the protons and neutrons to come together, forming hydrogen and helium nuclei. After 300 000 years, the Universe had cooled to about 3000 degrees.

Famous Astronomers - Task 2

Image
Famous Astronomers Charles Messier Date of Birth: June 26th of 1730 Main Thinking: He is known because he compiled a total number of 110 objects from outer space. This catalog was published in 1774 with his name. Ptolomeo  Date of birth: 100 a.C Main Thinking: He is known for his greatest work on astronomy, the Almagest. It included a catalog of stars and a series of tables that helped calculate the position of the planets, the Sun and the Moon and solar and lunar eclipses. This text was the largest astronomical treatise for 1500 years after his death, making him a really famous astronomer. Galileo Galilei Date of birth: February 15th of 1564 Main Thinking: He is the most well-known astronomer because of his extended knowledge about astronomy and all the theories he made. He used the telescope when it was recently invented to study the sky and the planets. He was the first one to notice the Saturn Rings and several moons of Jupiter.   Nicolas Copernic Date of birth: February 19th of 14
